Come What May is billed as the dazzling world of Moulin Rouge, we were also treated to songs from other recent movie musicals including A Star Is Born, The Greatest Showman, Rocketman, Bohemian Rhapsody and Burlesque.
With ‘Nature Boy’ David Wyatt, the MC, opened the show followed by Jazzy Phoenix with ‘Lady Marmalade’. The set was simple, a neon sign on the backstage curtain and 2 large curtains either side of the stage.
‘I’m Still Standing’ with vocalist Jarrad Green, saw us introduced to AJ and Curtis Pritchard, who are the star names on the poster. They brought slick dancing as well panto style singalong with the audience. It wasn’t really necessary but it gave the stage hand a chance to brush costume feathers off the stage.
‘Come What May’ with Jazzy and Jarrad was excellent, at times it was hard to know whether to concentrate watching the singers or the dancers! ‘The Rhythm Of The Night’ brought us a Latin interlude.
More we got - the second half starting with ‘The Greatest Show’, the company excelling again. David Wyatt gave us an unusual ‘Like A Virgin’ with a hint of humour. James Doughty had the chance to step away from the piano to give a beautiful version of ‘La Vie En Rose’.
‘Roxanne’ was a definite highlight, the stunning costumes had skirts which were pulled off and used as Matador capes which AJ and Curtis and the dancers excelled in.
One of my favourite performances was ‘The Show Must Go On’ with the 3 singers excelling. A lively end to the evening was ‘Come Alive’ which was energetic to say the least! A MegaMix brought the evening to a close with the whole audience clapping and dancing along.
Come What May is a truly spectacular evening, with super dazzling dancing and stellar vocals. No one was the star of the show in this magnificent company. Highly recommend.
