Get ready to indulge in a night of sexiness, humour, and unforgettable melodies as Australian superstar Jason Donovan takes centre the stage in Nottingham as Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical, Rocky Horror Show, rolls back into town. Part of an extensive new tour, Donovan is once again embodying the alluring Frank N Furter, following a sensationally sold-out tour in Australia in 2024.

Having played to packed houses internationally for over 50 years, Rocky Horror tells the wild tale of two innocent college students, Brad and his fiancée Janet. Their mundane journey takes a thrilling twist when their car breaks down near a mysterious castle en route to visit their former professor. Enter the charismatic Frank N Furter, and let the adventure begin! Here begins a riot of fun, frolics, fabulous costumes, and festive revelry that you won't soon forget (and that’s just in the audience!).

Jason Donovan brings something quite different to his Frank N Furter. He feels like watching a washed up rock star who longs for fun and here is his chance when Brad and Janet arrive and he unleashes his new creation. Vocally Donovan isn’t the cleanest Frank you’ll ever hear but he has a real magnetic pull that keeps drawing you to him. Joining Donovan in this dazzling production are the talented and sweet natured Lauren Chia as Janet and Connor Carson as Brad. Job Greuter makes Riff Raff his own with some superb mannerisms and delicious vocal work. Natasha Hoeberigs is endlessly sultry as Magenta and Usherette whilst Jayme-Lee Zanoncelli’s Columbia does get a little lost in the shadows until the character is gassed in the second act. Understudy Arthur Janes is tremendous as Frank’s creation, Rocky whilst Edward Bullingham as dual roles as Eddie and Dr. Scott to high acclaim.

Making a real star turn is Nathan Caton as The Narrator. He guides the piece with real skill, his comedic timing is naturally second to none as he bounces back to any of the audiences shout outs. He keeps the jokes topical and local poking fun at Leicester City (the audacity!) and Robin Hood. His ease and sense of fun makes him a constant treat to watch.

Christopher Luscombe’s direction drives forward this piece and the fun never stops in the 2 hour run time. It’s packed full of superb music and the band are outstanding at creating this classic score. The production does a fine job of managing to bring it down to stillness as required participate in the softer numbers like ‘Once In A While’ or ‘Don’t Dream It’. Undoubtedly ‘The Time Warp’ is a highlight and has people up on their feet joining in with the iconic moves.

Whether this is your first, or like many in the audience your 10th plus watch of this show you can’t help but have so much fun. One of the greatest musicals of all time and it plays to packed houses for a reason.
Grab your friends, your partner, your colleagues or whomever and raid the fancy dress cupboard. Rocky Horror is not just a show; it’s an experience and one to not miss the chance to catch whilst you can.
