This is a show that's been winning awards all over the place. Woody Fu is the actor, and this show: a Keanu Reeves homage.
Through mime and breakaway moments, we see the story of a man - John Wick - who has lost his wife, then his dog and goes on to kill over 400 people who are 'responsible'.
Ridiculous? Yes. And Woody Fu knows it.
A one-man staged telling of John Wick obviously means we have no horse chase...but we do see the car chases, motorbike rides, mayhem, gun-fights, and John Wick falling four stories to simply walk away...
All of the above is really well put together with clever props, spot-on sound effects and Woody Fu working his socks off. In fact, Woody Fu sells everything he does, by getting us the audience to join in, by being a camera operative, producer, stunt double...it's all thrown in. A slow-motion dancing audience with Fu fighting was worth seeing (and being part of) on it's own.
As I said, this is a loving for Reeves, and why not? It does seem he might be the nicest man alive! Woody Fu touches on 'The Matrix', 'Bill & Ted' and even the less obvious choices like 'The Lake House'.
My few, and in truth, minor faults were, that often things have been seen before in other shows. Often at places like the Edinburgh Fringe, but as it was executed so well, I didn't care.
This is well put together piece of theatre that will be one of this year's Edinburgh Festival highlights.
Woody Fu has brilliant comedic skills, agility, stamina, and timing. Add to this his charm and affable nature, it's not hard to see why people are loving Woody Fu: One Man John Wick all around the world.
