Ahead of the festive tour we speak to band.
What can you tell me about your forthcoming tour?
This year is such a special one for us, 15 years of The Overtones! We’re taking that milestone on the road with a Christmas tour that’s bigger, more festive and more full of surprises than ever. Expect the classics you know and love, plenty of sparkle, and some brand-new twists in true Overtones style. We want the audience to leave feeling like they’ve just been to the ultimate Christmas party.

You celebrate 15 years of The Overtones this year, how do you reflect on the journey you’ve shared together?
Honestly, it’s been a whirlwind. We started out singing together for the love of harmonies and friendship, and here we are 15 years later still doing it, still laughing, still travelling, and still connecting with audiences. There have been highs and lows, but the constant has been the love of the music and the loyalty of our fans. We’re really proud to still be Overtones in’ it up after all this time.
How do you approach selecting a set list for a tour?
It’s a fun challenge. We always try to balance the fan favourites, the songs we can’t leave out, with fresh material that keeps things exciting for us as well as the audience. For a festive show, we also get to dip into Christmas classics, which is such a joy. We’ll sit down together, throw ideas around, sometimes argue (in the best way!) and eventually land on a set list that feels like a real journey from start to finish.
With a festive theme, what are your favourite Christmas traditions?
For me it’s about family. Putting up the tree, carols on in the background, mince pies in the oven (that cosy feeling never gets old) And of course, the guilty pleasure of a Christmas movie or two! Those little traditions are what give the festive season its magic.
How do you mentally and physically prepare for a tour?
Rehearsals are key, we work hard on the vocals, the choreography, and the stamina to make sure we can give 100% every night. Personally, I try to eat well, exercise, and get plenty of rest. Mentally, it’s about focusing on the excitement of being back on stage. The adrenaline does the rest once the curtain goes up.
Are there any venues or cities that you are particularly looking forward to visiting on this tour?
Every city has its own charm, but there’s always something electric about a Manchester show. It feels like a homecoming show. That said, we love getting out to places we maybe haven’t been for a while, reconnecting with fans all over the UK is a big part of the joy.
What is that moment like when you step out for the first time in front of the audience?
It’s honestly indescribable. The lights go up, you hear that first roar from the crowd, and all the nerves disappear in an instant. There’s this rush of connection, us to the audience and the audience back to us, and you just think, “This is exactly where I’m meant to be.”
Who are your musical influences?
We’ve always been inspired by the great harmony groups, The Drifters, The Temptations, The Four Seasons. Vocally, they set the bar so high. Personally, I also take a lot of inspiration from performers who give their whole heart on stage, whether that’s Elton John, Stevie Wonder or George Michael.
What keeps you inspired?
The fans, without a doubt. Seeing how our music connects with people, how it becomes part of their memories and celebrations, that’s the best motivation you can ask for. And of course, the bond between the four of us. We push each other, make each other laugh, and that keeps the spark alive.
