FRIENDS! The Musical Parody - Review

Review by Holly at Milton Keynes Theatre
Tickets were gifted in return for an honest review.

It feels like a rule that anyone who was alive during the 90’s and 00’s knows friends like the back of their hands, myself included. Friends is one of my all-time favourite shows and so when I saw Friends: The Musical Parody on tour, I knew I needed to go. Like could I be any more excited to go?

I will preface this review by saying you do need to be a fan of the show in order to get the most out of it. Every couple of seconds there is a reference to a joke in the TV show so if you don’t know the show you’ll miss the comedic joy of the musical.

Now that that is taken care of. I can only sing the praises of this show, the cast of just phenomenal, they are a joy to watch, and their physical comedy really pulls the performance together, anyone can do an impression of a Friends character, however this cast really get into the body of those characters, from the mannerisms, the intonation of their voices or even their body language, if you didn’t know any better, you could think you were watching an episode of Friends.

Alongside the main cast of characters are other fan favourites that pop up in the show a couple of times, such as Gunther, who by the way, absolute kudos to the actor as he plays multiple roles and does an absolutely incredible job and his voice is jaw-droppingly impressive; he got one of the biggest applauses after his song. We then have characters such as the beloved monkey Marcel, Tom Selleck, and oh my gawd … our favourite loud animal print-loving guest character, Janice. Her appearance in the show makes me laugh constantly; the physicality in the comedy in that performance is award-winning. Honestly, I recommend seeing the show based on this performance alone.

Now, a musical isn't what comes to mind when you think of the Friends TV show, but it works. Drawing on favourite scenes or situations from the show brings music to the show in a funny, lighthearted and feel-good way, from songs such as “Typical Day at Central Perk”, “How You Doin’”,  “I am Marcel’ to “OMG its Janice”. You will not be able to stop yourself from smiling at the songs, and you will point out all the little details you notice during them. The musical feels like one big insiders club, but with your friends that you’ve loved on screen for decades. It feels like the show never ended which I loved.

If you’re looking for a funny, nostalgic and feel-good night out, Friends: A Musical Parody is the perfect way to go. You will love all the details you find during the show, the music, the comedy from the cast and how you can feel how much everyone else is enjoying being back with their 6 favourite Friends after all those years.

Friends: The Musical Parody finds its home at Milton Keynes Theatre until the 17th January 2026, then moves onto London, Bradford, Edinburgh and the rest of the country until their final show in Cardiff on the 2nd May 2026. Don’t miss your chance to hang out with the Friends Cast and have a great time as they’ll always be there for you.
