In our ongoing Edinburgh Fringe 2026 interview series, we are speaking to artists and creatives who are bringing their shows to the Scottish capital this summer.
In this interview, we speak with Callum Grant to learn more about their show Broken Planet Show.
What can you tell me about your show?
A joyous absurd interactive cabaret, God has returned from vacation to discover a world on the brink, the only solution is a Broken Planet Show! Cue weird and wonderful acts and guests from across the fringe as well as unique classics like the infamous Nerf Karaoke.

How would you describe the style of your show to anyone who has never seen you before?
Irreverent inspiring wild variety with a big heart.
What was the lightbulb moment that led to the creation of this piece?
It was more a collection of fairy lights that continue off into the night!
The world seems more and more divided, I wanted to challenge that while making something really fun, unique and absurd that spoke to people with the hope of spreading empathy, without wagging a finger or preaching.
What makes 2026 the perfect year for this specific story or performance?
We are at a very strange crossroads in human evolution, I think we need each other and to be reminded of everyone's humanity, while celebrating flaws and differences.

We are at a very strange crossroads in human evolution, I think we need each other and to be reminded of everyone's humanity, while celebrating flaws and differences.
As we risk moving further into a digital age of isolation and division, I believe irreverent joy and heartfelt connection in live events will help more than ever.
How will you mentally and physically prepare for a run at the Fringe?
That's a good idea, I'll try that.
If you couldn’t use a flyer to attract audiences, what ridiculous object would you hand out to people to get them into your show?
We used to hand out tin foil so everyone could make their own hats ... I'd like to give everyone a flashlight/torch so they can be the lighting.
What is the one item in your Fringe Survival Kit that you can’t live without this month?
Chicken Broth.
What would you deem as success at the end of the Fringe?
Learning whatever it is the Fringe will teach me this year, whilst discovering new audiences, artists and unexpected connections.
Other than your own show, are there any other shows you would recommend at the Fringe this year?
Lt Love Dr's Boot Camp, The Mothman Cometh, Well Balanced Dads, Always Sometimes Maybe, The Letterman and Tape Face.
What is one Edinburgh spot that you would recommend people to visit when they're not watching performances?
Arthur's Seat, it helps to get up and out of the chaos with a wonderful view for some well needed perspective.
Can you describe the show in 5 words?
Uplifting, Bonkers, Heartfelt, Chaotic, Interactive
What keeps you inspired?
When strangers make me laugh or smile.
What would you hope someone takes away from seeing the show?
Hope, shared giggles, a little patience with different humans and a well timed bottom burp.
When and where can people see the show?
Just the Tonic - the Big Cave August 20th - 30th, 4:30pm COME SAVE WORLD!
