Last night I went to watch a show that I knew nothing about, and I can honestly say I left the theatre absolutely blown away by how wonderful it was.
Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance is a spectacular Irish dance production combining traditional music and dance with theatrical storytelling, dazzling costumes, and energetic performances.
First created in 1996, the 2026 tour celebrates the 30th year of Lord of the Dance, impressing audiences around the world. This production promises new choreography, state-of-the-art special effects and cutting-edge lighting and it’s safe to say it delivered all of these.
The show told a story of good vs evil through dance and was extremely powerful. The feelings of each character were clearly shown through the dance and as an audience member is was very easy to follow thanks to the visual effects and costuming.
Although there were over 150,00 taps per show, the cast made it look effortless and danced with a beaming smile. I was particularly impressed with the charisma and showmanship of the male lead.
Every movement felt precise and purposeful in moving the story along and the talent that the individuals on stage have is simply incredible. The staging, lighting and costuming added to the atmosphere and gave the show an enchanting and magical feel.
I left the show feeling uplifted and hope to see Lord of the Dance again in the future!
