Guys Woods - Puddles and Amazons Edinburgh Fringe Interview

As part as our Edinburgh Fringe 2024 coverage we are running a series of interviews with artists and creatives that are taking part in the festival.

In this interview we speak to Guy Woods about his show Puddles and Amazons.

Where did your arts career begin?
I wanted to be a magician when I was 12 but I wasn’t very good at magic so decided to switch lanes.

What can you tell me about your show?
It’s a bit wet, a bit silly and I’m worried about my nan coming to see it.

How would you describe the style of the show?
If you were on a kind of quest and encountered a strange man under a bridge and you expected him to ask you these riddles three, but instead he described to you the plot of Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.

How have you approached developing the piece?
Dug deep, ate a lot of ice cream.

How do/will you prepare yourself for a run at the Fringe?
I’ve been doing a lot of Yoga with Adrienne (from Youtube). Will need to do a lot more.

Other than the show, what’s something you’re looking forward to doing in Edinburgh this year?
Tim Key, Elf Lyons, and playing frisbee with my friend Tommy.

What keeps you inspired?
Seeing films, plays, reading and drinking a lot of water.

What do you hope an audience takes away from seeing the show?
That they laughed a bit, were moved a bit, and (ideally) feel compelled to tell every single person they’ve ever met about it.

But Where can audiences see the show?
4.40pm at Summerhall 4-26 August! I’ll be there!
