This November, SIX the Musical makes herstory once again, as the members of the original Japanese cast take to the Vaudeville Theatre stage for one week only - performing the global phenomenon entirely in Japanese (with English captions) from Tuesday 4 to Sunday 9 November 2025.
Following sold out seasons in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya earlier this year, the critically acclaimed Japanese Queens now bring their celebrated performances to London, making their West End debuts.

The cast will be Sonim as ‘Aragon’, Meimi Tamura and Maho Minamoto alternating the role of ‘Boleyn’, Harumi as ‘Seymour’, Eliana and Marie Sugaya alternating the role of ‘Cleves’, Airi Suzuki and Erika Toyohara alternating the role of ‘Howard’, Sora Kazuki and Ruki Saito alternating the role of ‘Parr’. They will be joined by Aoi Tanaka as Musical Director.
We caught up with the cast ahead of their herstoric run of performances.
How excited are you to be making West End history with this run of shows?
Sonim (Aragon):
Performing overseas has been a dream I’ve cherished throughout my long career in the entertainment industry. I could never have imagined that I’d one day perform in SIX — and in a Japanese-language production, no less! Life is truly full of surprises. Creating the Japanese version of SIX was one of the most challenging projects I’ve ever taken part in, even compared to the many productions I’ve been involved with. But now, I’m ready to pour my soul into this performance so that London audiences can truly feel our version of SIX. I want to fill the West End theatre with excitement and energy!
Meimi Tamura (Boleyn):
夢にも思ってないことでしたから、未だに信じられません！イギリスのお客様に喜んでいただけるかドキドキですが、六人の王妃へのリスペクトを忘れずに、ステージに立ちたいと思います！
It’s something I never even dreamed of, so I still can’t quite believe it! I’m nervous about whether the audiences in the UK will enjoy our performance, but I want to step onto that stage with deep respect for the six Queens in my heart.

First of all, I’m just so grateful. Thinking back to the rehearsals and performances in Japan last year fills my heart with emotion. Right now, I’m so excited I could probably pop popcorn in my stomach!
Harumi (Seymour):
Ever since the day the West End run was confirmed, I honestly haven’t been able to sleep well. Every single day, I’ve been praying that it will really happen.
It’s the first time something like this has happened in the Japanese musical industry, and I feel so proud. I want to give my everything to play Seymour.

I still can’t believe it! Just a year ago, I was sitting in the audience at the Vaudeville Theatre, studying SIX. I never could have imagined that one day I’d be standing on that very same stage. 昨年の6月にミュージカルSIXをウエストエンドの劇場にプライベートで見に行きました。
そこでとてつもないを感動体験をして、その感動を胸に日本で公演をしていたので、あの劇場のステージに自分が立つと思うと、人生って何が起きるかわからないんだなぁという気持ちでいっぱいです。
とてもとてもワクワクしています！！英国の物語が日本に来て、それがまた英国に戻ると言う逆輸入というのは、とても珍しいことというの聞きましたので、日本のカンパニーだからこそできるパワーで、英国の歴史に敬意を払いながら、ステージに立たせていただきたいと思っています。
In June last year, I went to see SIX the Musical at a West End theatre. The experience moved me so deeply — it was truly unforgettable. I carried that feeling in my heart while performing SIX in Japan, so the thought of now standing on that very same stage feels surreal. It really makes me think that you never know what life has in store for you.
I’m beyond excited!! I’ve heard that it’s quite rare for a British story to travel to Japan, be performed there in Japanese, and then return to the UK — like a “reverse import.” So I want to take the stage with all the power that only our Japanese company can bring, honoring British history with the utmost respect.

Something I never could have imagined is actually happening. The only thing I can say for certain — even though it’s still in the future — is that this will become one of the most unforgettable and precious experiences of my life. How did you approach bringing your own stamp to the role?

日本版SIXの初演公演時、私は、この芸能活動の24年目の時でした。自分のキャリア歴とキャサリンのヘンリーの妻歴が全く同じなので、舞台上で他のクイーンと接する時の重みとなり、24年の誇りを生かす事ができました。あと、私は自他共に認める忍耐強さを持っているので、このキャラクター像を作る上で深みを持たせるのに強みになりました。
When we first premiered the Japanese production of SIX, it was my 24th year in the entertainment industry. The fact that my career length perfectly matched Catherine’s years as Henry’s wife gave extra weight to my interactions with the other Queens on stage, and I was able to bring that 24 years of pride to my performance. I’m also known — by myself and by others — for my patience and perseverance, which became a real strength in building depth and authenticity in my portrayal of Catherine.
Meimi Tamura (Boleyn):
私は子供の頃から、楽しいことや人を笑わせることが大好きなので、真面目なシーンや大切な場面で、ついついボケちゃうブーリンには、大変共感していました。
Ever since I was a child, I’ve loved doing fun things and making people laugh. So I really related to Boleyn, who can’t help cracking jokes — even in serious or emotional moments!
Maho Minamoto (Boleyn):
私は集中力が長く続かないところがあるのですが、それをブーリンの無邪気さや子どもらしさに繋げて良いこととして活用しました！
I tend to have a short attention span, but I turned that into something positive — connecting it to Boleyn’s innocence and childlike energy. It became a strength that helped me bring out her playful charm!
Harumi (Seymour):
The process of internalization is what I value the most.
Embracing everything with a big, unconditional love.
I try to approach it without being afraid of emotions.
Eliana (Cleves):
とにかく"楽しむ"ことを大切にしました。
そのことで自分とクレーヴスの間に“薄い膜”のような絶妙な距離感を持てた気がします。クレーヴスの持つ自由さやユーモアが、私自身の中にも自然と息づいている気がします。
彼女を演じるのではなく"共に楽しむ"感覚で舞台に立たせていただきました。
I focused on one thing above all—having fun. By doing that, I think I found this delicate “thin veil” of distance between myself and Cleves. Her sense of freedom and humor started to naturally live within me. Rather than playing her, I stepped on stage with the feeling of enjoying the moment together with her.
Marie Sugaya (Cleves):

ちょっとでもオンステージっぽい顔すると演出家に「クールすぎるから、いつものマリエで！」って引き戻されて。
だから、つまり、、ほぼ普段のマリエです！
Honestly… I was just being myself! (laughs) Whenever I tried to put on a more “onstage” expression, the director would say, “Too cool! Be your usual Marie!” and pull me back. So basically… what you see is pretty much the real me!
Airi Suzuki (Howard):
キャサリンハワードと自分が似ているところというと、"人の幸せが自分の幸せであるところ"が1番近いかなと思っています。
私は小学校2年生から芸能活動をしていて、23歳まではアイドルとして活動してきました。
グループを解散した後も、ソロで芸能活動をするという道を選んで、常に人の前に立ちながら自分の見た目やパフォーマンスを評価される世界にいるます。２０年経ってもまだステージに立ちたいと思うその原動力って、もちろん音楽が好きということもありますが、それ以上に"誰かが喜んでくれる顔を見ることが幸せ"っていうのが1番大きくて。
その気持ちがある時点で、あまり深いことを考えなくてもハワードがヘンリーに尽くす気持ちっていうもの自体はすごくわかるなぁと思いました。
ハワードは悲しい人生の終わり方をしているので、SIXで私がハワードを演じることで、本当にハワードが伝えたかったこと伝えられたら、きっとハワードも喜んでくれるかなと思っています。
6人の中では1番若い役どころではありますが、若いながらに出るセクシーさだったりとか色気だったりとかっていうものがパフォーマンスにも出るといいなと思って、ダンスの踊り方や立ち振る舞い立ち姿も、少し曲線を意識しながら演じています。
If I had to name one thing Catherine Howard and I have in common, it would be that seeing others happy makes me happy too.
I started working in entertainment when I was in the second grade, and until I was 23, I was an idol singer.
Even after my group disbanded, I chose to continue as a solo artist, staying in a world where my appearance and performance are constantly evaluated. Now, twenty years later, I still have the desire to stand on stage — and while that’s partly because I love music, the biggest reason is that seeing someone smile with joy makes me truly happy.
Because of that, I can really understand Howard’s devotion to Henry — that selfless desire to give her all to someone she loves. Howard’s life ended tragically, so through playing her in SIX, I hope I can express what she truly wanted to say — something that would make her happy to see from above.
Among the six Queens, she’s the youngest, but I wanted to express her youthful sensuality and allure through movement — by paying attention to the curves and flow in her dancing, posture, and gestures.
Erika Toyohara (Howard):

I’d never really thought much about what my strengths were before. But through SIX, I learned how important it is to believe in myself, to embrace my individuality, and to shine just as I am. In creating my portrayal of Howard, I think what I was able to bring from myself was my genuine love of learning about history and people!
Sora Kazuki (Parr):

ASJ, our director, once told me that my natural way of being is similar to Parr’s. I think I also have the ability to see things from a broader perspective, just like she does. By aligning that quality with my own instincts, I feel I’m able to exist as Parr on stage in a very natural, effortless way.
Ruki Saito (Parr):
私はカンパニーの中で最年少で、人生経験もそんなにあるわけではなくて…。
それでもパーを調べ、知っていくうちに、物事の考え方や姿勢に共感したり、感化されたり、ひとつずつ繋がっていく感覚がありました。あとはその感覚を難しくとらえず感じたままにパーと向き合いました。またこの公演で彼女と一つになれるのが嬉しいです。

I’m the youngest member of the company, and I don’t have that much life experience yet.
But as I learned more about Parr — her way of thinking and how she approached life — I began to feel connected to her, one step at a time. Rather than overanalyzing, I just let myself feel those connections and faced her with an open heart. I’m truly happy to become one with her again through this production.

Can London audiences expect anything different from your run?
Sonim (Aragon):

Even though the translations are nearly identical, there are subtle nuances that naturally shift when the lines are spoken in Japanese. I’ve heard that the Japanese version was reverse-translated into English, so I think audiences will be able to sense those delicate differences — as well as the unique emotional expressions and gestures that only the Japanese cast can bring to the stage!

イギリスは、六人の王妃が王妃として存在していた場所。イギリスの学校では、ヘンリー8世と六人の妻たちの歴史を丁寧に学ぶと聞きました。だからこそ、王妃一人一人に対しての想いが、それぞれのお客様の心の中にあると思います。心を共に、言葉の壁を超えて、一緒に歌を響かせたいです。
The UK is the place where the six Queens actually lived as Queens. I’ve heard that in British schools, students learn in detail about Henry VIII and his six wives. That’s why I believe each audience member already holds a personal connection to these Queens in their hearts. I hope we can share that feeling, and let our songs resonate together — beyond words and beyond language.
Maho Minamoto (Boleyn):
SIXが誕生したこの土地で、言語も文化も違う私たちをどのように受け入れてくれるのか、どこでどんな反応があるのか、どきどきします。
I’m both nervous and excited to see how audiences here — in the very place where SIX was born — will receive us, coming from a different culture and language. I can’t wait to see what kind of reactions we’ll get, and where!
Harumi (Seymour):
Since the entire performance will be in Japanese,
I think even just through the sound of the language itself, the audience might laugh in unexpected moments or feel the beauty of Japanese in a new way.

Even if our languages and countries are different, the energy and message of SIX remain the same. I hope everyone will feel the power of its Her-story with their whole body. But maybe, with the addition of the Japanese language twist, it’ll sound refreshingly new to the Queendom!

Even the difference in language creates a fascinating change in sound. (But the spirit behind it is exactly the same!) I think even those who already know SIX inside and out will find this to be a fresh and exciting experience.
Airi Suzuki (Howard):
私は°C-uteとBuono!というアイドルグループに所属していたんですが、そのグループ時代にヨーロッパだとパリで公演を行ったことがあります。その時に、アジア圏とヨーロッパ圏では好まれる曲が違うという驚きがあったのと同時に、"かわいい"という日本語の言葉がヨーロッパでも英語に変換されず"かわいい"という単語で通用していることを知ってとても感動した記憶があります。そして何より熱い！声援が熱い！あの劇場がどういうふうな愛と声援でいっぱいになるのか、そしてまず日本語でやることをどう受け止めてくださるのか。気になることはたくさんですが、楽しみすぎます！！
また、SIXは6人それぞれに振り分けられた色がありますよね。私だったらピンク。
あの振り分けられた色っていうのは、日本のアイドル文化においては、とても重要なコンテンツの1つです。日本のアイドルだとメンバーカラーっていうものがあって、好きなメンバーの色を身に纏ってファンの方はライブに参戦したりします。
SIXを観に行った時も、観客の皆様が列で並んでいる時に好きな王妃の髪型を真似していたりする子供達がたくさんいて、すごく素敵でした。こういう感覚も、日本の文化と親和性のあるエンターテイメントだなと思っていましたので、私の時にも観れるのかな？と楽しみにしています！
I used to be a member of the idol groups °C-ute and Buono!, and during that time we performed in Paris. It surprised me how the songs that were popular in Asia were different from those loved in Europe. At the same time, I was amazed to learn that the Japanese word “kawaii” was used and understood as-is in Europe, without translation! And above all — the passion! The cheers were incredible! I can’t wait to see how the audience’s love and energy fill the theatre this time, and how they’ll react to a Japanese-language performance.
Six also assigns each Queen a color — mine is pink.
In Japanese idol culture, these colors are a huge part of the experience: fans wear their favorite member’s color to concerts as a sign of support. When I saw SIX in London, I noticed children in line wearing hairstyles inspired by their favorite Queens — it was so lovely. It made me realize that this kind of excitement and fan culture connects beautifully with Japanese entertainment, too. I’m really looking forward to seeing how that spirit appears during our shows in London!
Erika Toyohara (Howard):

Although Japanese people often have a shy side, our Japanese Queendom really brought incredible energy and excitement to the show! I’m truly looking forward to meeting the UK Queendom, and I can’t wait to experience firsthand how people here — who have lived so closely with the history of England — connect with and interpret this piece.

When I first saw SIX on the West End, I was completely blown away by the passion and energy of the Queendom. That same spirit carried over to the Japanese Queendom later on, but there’s something uniquely special about that “home” energy of the show here in the UK. I’m really looking forward to seeing how audiences react to hearing SIX performed in Japanese in its birthplace.
Ruki Saito (Parr):
シャイな日本人でも熱狂的に盛り上がれる作品でしたので、SIXの持つエネルギーは本当に凄い！！
ロンドンの皆さんに我々がどう映るかは本当に未知数で、イギリスの歴史を日本人が演じるという事に対するプレッシャーは感じています。
ですがそれほど我々もこの作品を愛していますし、ロンドンの皆さんとSIX、王妃たちへの愛を共有出来たら嬉しいなと思います。
Even shy Japanese people can get swept up in the excitement of SIX — that’s how powerful its energy is! We honestly have no idea how London audiences will perceive us, and I do feel the pressure of performing a story rooted in British history as a Japanese cast. But we love this show just as deeply, and I hope we can share that love — for SIX and for the Queens — with everyone in London.

How do you mentally and physically prepare for a performance?
Sonim (Aragon):
私はヘルスコーチの資格を持っていて、精神的にも肉体的にも自分をコントロールするのが得意な方だと思います。完璧主義な部分もあるので(キャサリンとそっくり)、とてもストイックにルーティンを作っています。時間をかけて自分スタイルでアップをしていきます。特にSIXの場合、水分が取れないので、来日されたツアーキャストのアラゴン役Billie Kerrに教わった、ウォーターローディングも行っています。
あと初舞台からしている事、毎公演の開演前に、客席と舞台の板に挨拶して会話します。
I’m a certified health coach, so I’m quite good at managing both my mental and physical condition. Since I have a bit of a perfectionist side (just like Catherine!), I keep a strict routine that I follow diligently. I take my time warming up in my own way. Because SIX doesn’t allow for much water intake during the show, I also practice “water loading,” a technique I learned from Billie Kerr, who played Aragon in the touring cast that visited Japan. And something I’ve done since my very first stage performance — before every show, I always greet and “talk” to the theatre seats and the stage floor.
Meimi Tamura (Boleyn):
普段は、心を落ち着ける時間を作りますが、SIXの時は違います。メイク中やストレッチ中、できるだけ他の王妃たちとコミュニケーションをとって、あっためて、そのままステージに立つように心がけてます。
Usually, I try to find calm and quiet before going on stage, but with SIX, it’s different! While doing my makeup or stretching, I talk and laugh as much as possible with the other Queens — warming up my heart through our connection before stepping on stage.
Maho Minamoto (Boleyn):
公演前は、緊張からお腹が冷えないように温めてミントのオイルをこめかみに塗ってリラックスアンド集中スイッチを入れます。
Before each show, I warm up my stomach to make sure it doesn’t get cold from nerves, then I apply a bit of peppermint oil to my temples — that’s my way of switching on both relaxation and focus.
Harumi (Seymour):
We have two weeks of rehearsals after arriving in London, but before that, I practiced with whoever was available.
As always, I kept up with my physical training, and to stay calm, I worked on emotional control — recalling every bit of “life experience” I could connect to until the very last moment before the show. And preparing an emotional toolbox so I can handle whatever comes my way. haha
Eliana (Cleves):
まずはたっぷり水分をとって発声をします。
そして心の準備は、一緒にステージに立つクイーンたちやプロダクションチームのみなさんとの談笑、日々への感謝、そしてしっかり眠ること。
First, I hydrate well and do plenty of vocal warmups. Then I prepare my mind by chatting with my fellow Queens and the production team, feeling gratitude for each day—and of course, getting a good night’s sleep.
Marie Sugaya (Cleves):
良質なタンパク質とビタミンを摂って、よく寝て、あとは…残念だけど大好きなお酒の量を減らします。
I make sure to get plenty of good protein and vitamins, get a lot of sleep, and… sadly, I cut back on my favorite thing — alcohol!
Airi Suzuki (Howard):
基本的に普段から軽くできる運動だったり筋トレはするようにして、常にいつでも踊れるようにしています。ミュージカルSIXの場合は、日本で公演を行っている期間は、毎朝お風呂に浸かって体を温めてから現場に向かっていました。なので、全体ウォーミングアップのときにはもう体が温まっている状態で、そこからさらにストレッチができるようにして、筋などを痛めないようにケアしながら臨むようにしています。ポータブル浴槽を日本から持っていくのでそれを初めて使うのが楽しみです！！！
I always do light exercise or muscle training so that I can dance anytime. During the SIX run in Japan, I’d start each day by soaking in the bath to warm up my body before heading to the theatre. By the time group warmups began, I was already warm enough to stretch deeply and prevent injury. I’m actually bringing a portable bathtub from Japan — and I can’t wait to use it for the first time in London!
Erika Toyohara (Howard):
ストレッチと筋トレ、最近は体力作りのために朝時間のウォーキングをしています！
I always do stretching and strength training, and recently I’ve been going for morning walks to build stamina!
Sora Kazuki (Parr):
至ってシンプルに、ストレッチと発声で身体と喉を温めて起こします。
I keep it simple — stretching and vocal warmups to wake up and warm both my body and my voice.

人に話せない事も多かっただろうし、若くして亡くなっているので、大人になったときにどういう風な女性だったのかっていうのは本人もわからないままこの世を去ってしまっている。だから、将来についてどんな希望を持っていたのか、どんな夢があったのか、どんなキラキラした未来の想像を持っていたのか知りたいです。そして人に尽くすことに幸せを感じるハワードだったから、自分で本当の自分っていうのいっぱい抱きしめてあげて欲しいなと思うので、この質問にしたいと思います。

And how did you see your true self?
I imagine she had many things she couldn’t speak about, and because she died so young, she never got to discover what kind of woman she might have become. So I’d love to ask her — what hopes did you have for the future? What kind of bright, sparkling world did you imagine for yourself? Howard was someone who found happiness in caring for others, so I’d want her to embrace her own true self, too — with love and pride. That’s why I chose this question.

Now, centuries later, her story has become a piece of theatre that so many people know, love, and passionately connect with. Whenever I portray a historical figure, I see my performance as a kind of requiem. I believe SIX becomes complete only when it’s elevated through the emotions and thoughts of the audience. With the greatest admiration for the lives of these six women, I hope our performance inspires today’s audiences to celebrate their own lives as well.

One of the biggest messages in SIX, I think, is to love yourself without comparing to others, without trying to outshine anyone — to embrace every part of who you are. That’s exactly what SIX taught me, and I’d be so happy if audiences feel that too!
