Time Travel Postman - Edinburgh Fringe Interview

In our ongoing Edinburgh Fringe 2026 interview series, we are speaking to artists and creatives who are bringing their shows to the Scottish capital this summer.

In this interview, we speak with Sevrin Willinder about their show Time Travel Postman.

What can you tell me about your show?
We both love doing it. It's a show about friendship that I made with my best friend. I'm the one on stage, and my friend is running the tech. Every night the tech is a little bit different, and she is just as much a part of the games in the show as I am.

How would you describe the style of your show to anyone who has never seen you before?
It's very clown. Think of Charlie Chaplin (maybe early career). We play games with the audience pretty much the whole time. We have pre-recorded sound effects that play differently every time in response to what is happening -- sort of like Stamptown does. My goal is to interact with every single audience member -- I deliver letters to everyone -- but very much want everyone to feel safe. If you don't feel like playing, you don't have to.

What was the lightbulb moment that led to the creation of this piece?
I traveled abroad for 3 and a half years straight, and wanted to make a show dedicated to my friends from my travels and how they affected me. After we finished making a 2 person show dedicated to language and the limitations of Google Translate called "Shakespeare Translate: The Complete Works," I wanted to go the exact opposite direction and make a show with no words.

What makes 2026 the perfect year for this specific story or performance?
Our show is about friendship, living in the moment, and connecting with the people around you. In a world that is increasingly online and disconnected, we believe that hanging out with a bunch of strangers in a room and playing silly games with them is a great way to connect with people you otherwise would not meet.

How will you mentally and physically prepare for a run at the Fringe?
I know my friend Melissa is going to be deciding which flavors of Celsius keep her awake and focused the best, while I'm going to try to sleep as much as I can. But I think I can speak for both of us when I say reminding ourselves why we do this, and being grateful for each person that comes to the show and participates keeps us excited and fresh every night.

If you couldn’t use a flyer to attract audiences, what ridiculous object would you hand out to people to get them into your show?
A small baby doll with a disco ball for a head.

What is the one item in your Fringe Survival Kit that you can’t live without this month?
Tesco Meal Deal.

What would you deem as success at the end of the Fringe?
If we can grow our audience and get more people to know us. We'd love to get a bit of press to complete our tour package, and our dream is to get the opportunity to take the show to a place where English is less commonly spoken. We both want to perform the show for an audience with whom we have a language barrier.

Other than your own show, are there any other shows you would recommend at the Fringe this year?
So many! Channel (Dutch Kills), Dog Funeral (Zoe Wohlfeld), Double Take (Broken Box Mimes), The Passion of Mr. Cardboard (Miles Calderon), Peregrinations (Dutch Kills), The Movement (Ethan & Gigi), Noted (Dutch Kills), Danger Plan! (Sophia Wolbrom), The Kobold Show (Durnmoose), and I'm definitely forgetting some but that's already a lot.

What is one Edinburgh spot that you would recommend people to visit when they're not watching performances?
Tanjore (on Clerk St) is the first place I've found outside of India that has proper South Indian Parotta! It's my favorite kind of bread in the world!

Can you describe the show in 5 words?
Interactive, uplifting, fun, loving, generous.

What keeps you inspired?
My friend Melissa, my girlfriend Angie, and everyone I know making amazing art (especially during the fringe).

What would you hope someone takes away from seeing the show?
I hope they leave the show with more energy than they had when they first entered.

When and where can people see the show?
At 8:40pm (20:40) at the Gilded Balloon Patterhouse Snug August 5-31 (except for the 12th, 18th, and 25th).
