On The Cloud Kids - Wandsworth Fringe Interview

In a series of interviews, we are chatting to artists involved with the 2024 Wandsworth Fringe. The Fringe Festival runs from 7th until 23rd June.

In this interview, we chat with On The Cloud Kids which runs various events across the Fringe.

Where did your arts career begin?
I have been running my company On The Clouds Kids since I was 18 which is when I first qualified as a children's yoga teacher so you could say since then!

What can you tell me about your show?
My practice is not a show but an interactive workshop for children, young people and their grown-ups. I’m hosting 10 Yoga Stories across the borough. Two of these workshops are for teenagers and are called ‘Mindful Yoga for Teens’. The other eight workshops are designed for children (from babies right up to 11year olds and their grown-ups). I have different sessions for different age groups. The older children will go on a Yoga quest while the younger ones will have a sensory Yoga experience with relaxing smells and calming lights. My practice is all about bringing exciting stories to life through Yoga. We combine modern storytelling techniques with ancient Yoga practices to promote creativity and wellbeing.

Where did the idea for the show come from?
I did one Yoga Story as part of WAF 2023 and knew that I wanted to do more for 2024.

How do you prepare for a performance?
First, I research a story. I had a huge book of folk tales from around the world where I get inspiration from. I then take elements of that to create my own story. I then look back at it and see which parts I can turn into a Drama game or a Yoga Sequence or a guided meditation. Then I work out which props I need and I’m ready to go!

What is the message of your show?
Promoting mindfulness, wellbeing and creativity in a positive, fun and engaging way.

If you were a biscuit, what would you be and why?
Jammie Dodger because I’m always bursting with ideas and try my best everyday to lead from the heart

Can you describe the show in three words?
Imagination, adventure, peaceful

When can people see the show and follow the journey beyond?
