Watch out everyone, there is magic afoot in Milton Keynes for the next few nights. The Mind Mangler: Member of the Tragic Circle is currently playing at the Milton Keynes Theatre, and I had the absolute delight to watch the first show last night.

Now this will be a mostly spoiler-free review as it is a magic show and I want everyone to go in there and be wowed and amazed by the show, so I can't give away their secrets. Now I just want to start off by saying whilst this is a magic show, this is also a comedy show by none other than Mischief Comedy, the hilarious and clever brains behind The Play that Goes Wrong, so expect your sides to hurt from laughing when the show ends as you would expect from any production from Mischief Theatre.

Now I must admit I am a little biased, I adore Mischief Comedy and have done for years their shows are always a delight and I dare you to find someone who won’t cry laughing at their shows, and The Mind Mangler: Member of the Tragic Circle is no different, everyone in the audience whilst mesmerised by the magic happening in the theatre were also cackling at and with the fabulous and hilarious Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer.

To pre-warn you there is some audience interaction in the show, before you take your seats you are given a little piece of paper to write a secret on that will be placed into a glass bowl on the stage to potentially be later revealed, don't worry if you don't want to take part you don't have to. There are more opportunities for audience participation/interaction so just be aware, it's all playful lighthearted fun and nothing anyone needs to worry about, if you want to be involved there are many chances too so make sure you can shout.

An unexpected delight of the show is the narrative that is intertwined throughout the magic and humour from Henry and Jonathon, the show does an spectacular job at combining the wonder of magic, the delight and giddiness of slapstick comedy and heartfelt joy into this show, I for one knew I wanted to see the show again before the show had even finished. It’s an absolute joy to watch and a perfectly hilarious night out, trust me you’ll be laughing every second.

I also want to commend Henry and Jonathon on their performances last night, it would be fair to say the audience was very enthusiastic and interactive almost too much at a point which had everyone including the actors laughing and breaking for 4th wall a couple of times and honestly I adored it, you see how much they are enjoying being on the stage and engaging with the audience and they worked with it splendidly, it added to the performance, I’d go back and see The Mind Mangler: Member of the Tragic Circle again in a heartbeat.

The Mind Mangler is home at the Milton Keynes Theatre until the 5th of June then it will be heading to Liverpool and ending its run in Bath. I can honestly say if you don’t go see it you are missing out on a night filled with utter joy, hilarity and magic. Believe me it will blow your mind…mind..mind..mind.
